13% of Los Alamos voters cast ballots early; polls open at 7 am on Tuesday
Early voting and Election Day numbers will be counted once polls close Tuesday

Some 2,100 early and absentee ballots for this year’s local election had been cast as of Monday, November 3, according to the Los Alamos County Clerk’s office. This corresponds to a turnout of approximately 13% of the 16,188 voters registered in Los Alamos County.
As a comparison, for the November 2024 presidential election, early voting turnout was 50.3% and absentee voting turnout was 8.8%, for a total of 9,684 votes. In-person voters accounted for another 2,623 ballots, bringing the total number of votes cast to 12,307 out of 16,362 registered voters — a 75% overall turnout.
Early voting has ended, but all Los Alamos County polling places will be open for in-person voting on Tuesday, November 4 from 7 am to 7 pm. Unofficial election results will be available on the county’s website after the polls close at 7 pm. Results become official after the county certifies them, a process that is typically completed 31 days after the election.

Absentee ballots must turned in by 7 pm at any polling place, or at secure ballot boxes located outside of either branch of Los Alamos Library.
