2024 fundraiser: please support us today!
Triple your money, thanks to Press Forward New Mexico.
We started Boomtown in November 2023 with the belief that the citizens of Los Alamos deserve timely, accurate, and verifiable information about the issues that affect our community: housing, governance, youth, public safety, and the 800-pound nuclear gorilla national laboratory next door.Â
In 2025, we want to continue growing Boomtown into a sustainable local business without relying on paywalls or, even worse, advertising. Our goal is to bring independent, local journalism to everyone in our community, and to do that, we need your help.Â
In the last year, more than 1,300 people have signed up to receive our reporting, and many have shared generous financial contributions. We’ve also earned recognition and grant funding from the New Mexico Local News Fund.
Our work earned us an invitation to participate in the New Mexico News Match grant program. Between December 1 and 31, 2024, NM News Match will donate two dollars for every dollar you donate to Boomtown.
In other words: Your contribution will be tripled! Â
We also know that some of our readers do not have the financial freedom to contribute to Boomtown at this time. All we ask is that you tell a friend (or three!) about the work we’re doing.
Each of our stories takes a tremendous amount of time, effort, and commitment to track down leads, dig into the facts, and untangle the complexities of each issue we report on. Your contribution, no matter the amount, will help us take advantage of this matching opportunity, and will directly help us to continue and broaden our impact in 2025.
On behalf of the Boomteam, thank you for helping to build a stronger community.Â
Sincerely,
Minesh Bacrania and Stephanie Nakhleh
