More details:
Staff-Student Relations: The board is updating its policy on staff and student relations, which is intended “to protect students from sexual misconduct and abuse while safeguarding staff from misunderstandings and false accusations.” The policy states, “Staff should avoid excessive socialization or informal involvement with individual students outside of the school environment” and that any contact between staff and students outside of school “must occur with parental consent and take place in a public or well-supervised environment.”
This would be the first update to the policy in more than a decade.
New Leases for Triad National Security and Resolutions for Canyon Complex, Mesa Complex, and Pajarito Complex: The district is looking to increase the rates of leases of three complexes to Triad National Security LLC, which oversees Los Alamos National Laboratory.
The new lease for the Canyon Complex would increase from $683,317 to $935,577 per year, the Pajarito Complex lease would increase from $730,153 to $1,073,754 per year, and the Mesa Complex lease would increase from $216,960 to $297,054 per year. These would be full services leases, where Los Alamos Public Schools pays expenses include taxes, utilities, and custodial and maintenance costs. The leases would be for five years, with no option to extend, and they would begin Oct. 1, pending approval from the State Board of Finance.
Budget Adjustment Report: The board is requesting an additional $5,722 for extra Title II costs, including funds for the Teacher and Principal Training and Recruiting Fund.
Disposals: The district is looking to dispose of several aging items, including document cameras, digital still cameras, digital video cameras, monitors, and Macbooks.
Mark your calendars and stay informed!
