Thank you so much for this. It's so frustrating when public safety, as well as other informationin the public interest, isn't readily forthcoming, and I really appreciate Boomtown's role in informing the community. I too am glad to know the story of Jennifer Fleming.

Thank you for another vital community discussion. Our community literally lives and dies by choices the police department makes in a vacuum. That vacuum also holds key safety issues such as local drug policy and juvenile justice. If the words and actions of the police department aligned, we’d all be significantly safer.

People who would like to see the police release information in a timely manner might consider encouraging them to do so. The police contact listed on their website is the Chief: dino.sgambellone@lacnm.us. You can also email the County Council: countycouncil@lacnm.us

I drove or rode my bike countless times on the way to and from our home on North Mesa, without knowing anything about Jennifer Fleming or anyone else involved in what was obviously a DWI crash that killed Jennifer. This puts a human face on a senseless death and injury to others.

I think the P.D. should release information as timely as possible. As the article says, it is not to embarrass or titillate, but to put the human face on tragedy so we can hopefully do better.

The traffic issue is getting to be a concern to all residents, it may not have been important to release data regarding accidents in the past, but it's vital today LAPD needs to step up with any and all efforts to deal with this growing crisis, maybe they need to hire more traffic folks.
