I have an extensive back ground in the medical field. My personal opinion regarding the Fentanyl epidemic is this: if we supply an antidote to reverse an overdose without intervention then we are enabling continued use.

Thank you for sharing your perspective, Linda. Harm reduction strategies, such as Narcan, often generate strong opinions. Research shows that Narcan saves lives by reversing overdoses, giving individuals a second chance to seek treatment and recovery. Studies have also found that access to Narcan does not increase drug use; instead, it provides an opportunity for intervention and support.

Narcan isn’t the solution to the crisis but is one part of a broader effort to address substance use through education, prevention, and treatment. Harm reduction can be a bridge to helping people get the support they need when they’re ready. Thank you again for engaging in this important discussion.
