Los Alamos resident dies after being struck by vehicle on Sunday
A Longtime Los Alamos resident and educator died Tuesday after being struck by a vehicle near Urban Park on Sunday, March 15.

Sixty-eight-year-old Brian Easton was crossing Urban Street in a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a pickup making a left turn onto Urban from North Road.
The driver of the truck, described as a “medic,” immediately stopped and began rendering medical aid, according to police radio dispatches. Emergency services arrived on scene within a minute of being dispatched at 11:13 am.
Easton was taken to Los Alamos Medical Center but was later transferred to the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque in critical condition.
Los Alamos Public Schools Superintendent Jennifer Guy notified LAPS staff in an e-mail on Tuesday afternoon that Easton would “not survive the Injuries [sic] he sustained” and that UNM Hospital would be conducting an “honor walk” on Sunday evening to honor Easton’s wishes that his organs be donated.
The driver of the truck has not been named or charged. A preliminary crash report, obtained by Boomtown through a public records request, indicated that neither alcohol nor speed were contributing factors. A detailed report will likely not be available until the police investigation is completed.
