Man who raped LAHS student to serve probation as part of plea deal

The man who raped a Los Alamos High School student after taking her off campus in December accepted a plea agreement last month that will require him to serve probation and register as a sex offender.
Twenty-six-year-old Adrian Ferran, who is referred to in some court records as Adrian Pizana-Ferran, pleaded guilty on June 22 to one felony count of criminal sexual penetration and one felony count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
As part of the agreement, in exchange for the guilty pleas, Ferran received a suspended sentence. If, however, he violates the terms of his probation, the court could order him to serve up to ten and a half years of incarceration, according to the plea agreement filed in First Judicial District Court.
The terms of the plea agreement further stated that Ferran must complete a sex offender treatment program, that he is not allowed to have unsupervised contact with anyone younger than eighteen, that he only access the internet for work or school, and that he complete twenty hours of community service.
The court also ordered that Ferran must reside at his mother’s home in Sandoval County; however, that condition of his probation is currently under review by the court because the Probation and Parole division of the New Mexico Corrections Department raised concerns that the home is fewer than 100 yards from a school.
Police initially arrested Ferran late last year after he was accused of taking a 14-year-old girl from the LAHS campus on December 10 to have sex with her. Ferran gained access to the school campus with a visitor’s pass that had been granted by the school’s office after he said he was there to drop off a car part to the auto shop for a project, according to court documents.
