Clarifications and corrections on the June 19 "Four Los Alamos teens arrested" story

In June and July 2024, the Los Alamos Police Department arrested six individuals as part of "Operation L.E.A.D." According to information provided by LAPD, the correct age (at the time arrest warrants were issued) and sex of those arrested are as follows:

  1. Female, 16

  2. Female, 17

  3. Male, 17

  4. Male, 18

  5. Male, 18

  6. Male, 22

Contrary to initial reports, not all the teens were students at Los Alamos High School. One individual was homeschooled, and some were former students.

Original Report: The LAPD originally reported the arrests as three 16-year-old girls and one 18-year-old boy, with all being students at Los Alamos High School.

Further Arrests: LAPD reports that additional individuals were arrested after the initial operation, bringing the total to six.

Status: LAPD says that five of the individuals have received pretrial diversion, and one case is pending investigation.
