New Mexico Forestry Division Wildfire Alerts & Monthly Newsletter: Wildfire updates will only distribute information about large wildfires on state or private land in New Mexico, not fires burning on federal land such as national forests.

Enable wireless emergency alerts on your phone: Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) are federal emergency alerts sent directly to cell phones during life-threatening events, including evacuation orders, wildfire threats, flash floods, etc.

iPhone: Settings → Notifications → Emergency Alerts → Enable

Android: Settings → Safety & Emergency → Wireless Emergency Alerts

Tip: Many phones have some alerts disabled by default, so it’s worth checking.

Watch Duty: One of the most widely used wildlife monitoring apps. Features include: real-time fire alerts, fire perimeter maps, evacuation updates, air traffic monitoring of firefighting aircraft. Can be viewed online or installed as an app on your phone.

InciWeb - Federal Fire Incident Tracker: Federal wildfire tracking system for large fires across the U.S. Includes incident summaries, maps and fire perimeter data, fire management updates.

New Mexico Fire Info: The primary wildfire information site for New Mexico. Provides daily fire updates, incident maps, evacuation notices and official public safety announcements.

NM Fire Dashboard: A statewide wildfire dashboard from New Mexico Forestry that tracks current fires and yearly trends by county and land ownership.


Smoke and air quality tracking

AirNow Smoke Map: Provides an interactive map showing smoke plumes, air quality monitors and wildfire smoke forecasts.

PurpleAir Air Quality Map: Community-run network of air quality sensors providing hyperlocal air quality readings. Can easily check the Los Alamos and White Rock sensors.
