It’s respiratory virus season - scroll down for a list of places around Los Alamos County that have Covid, flu, and RSV vaccines, how to schedule an appointment, answers to your questions, and links for more information.
Boomtown will update this page weekly, or as we obtain new information.
Notes:
Trinity Urgent Care and Los Alamos Medical Care Clinic are not providing Covid, flu, or RSV vaccines this year.
Free Covid-19 and flu shots will be offered by BCBS during the October 13 through October 16 LANL Benefits Expo from 9 am to 7 pm.
How should I schedule?
Nambe Drugs
Vaccinations are given by appointment only. The best way to schedule is through Nambe’s website. You can also call (505) 661-9560 option 4 to leave a message. Your call will be returned within two working days. We’ve been told that appointments are being scheduling about a month out, but more appointment slots will be opened as Nambe receives more vaccine supply.
Nambe Drugs is also coordinating with the Los Alamos Fire Department to deliver and administer vaccines for homebound residents. Call the number above.
Smiths Pharmacies (Los Alamos or White Rock)
The best way to schedule an appointment is on the Smiths website. Walk-ins are welcome but the wait might be unpredictable.MANNM (existing patients only): 505-661-8900
Childrens’ Clinic (existing patients only): 505-662-4234
FAQ’s:
Do I need a prescription from my doctor?
No. See guidance from the NMDOH.
Will the vaccine be covered by my insurance?
Most likely, especially if you start with where you get your prescriptions filled locally. Note that BCBS NM (i.e. LANL’s insurance provider) is still not accepted at Smiths.
What if I don’t have medical insurance?
The Los Alamos Public Health Office is closed until further notice. The NMDOH helpline (1-833-SWNURSE = 1-833-796-8773) is answered by a real person who has information about regional availability.
When will Boomtown update this page?
Every Sunday during the fall and winter.
The information above is provided as an information service to Boomtown readers. For medical advice, please consult your doctor or the NMDOH Helpline (1-833-SWNURSE = 1-833-796-8773).
